Artist in Residence
In 2015 the Artist-in-Residence programme of AVL Mundo came to be. The residency, a villa from 1906 (by Rotterdam architect Jan van Teeffelen) of 311m2 with gas, water and light and high speed internet, offers room to two artists and/or curators at the time to live and work. Each period consists of a minimum of three up to a maximum of six months. A period runs from February till September or September till February. The space is offered to our residents for free, all other costs such as materials and food need to be paid by the residents themselves.
Next to a place to live and work the artists receive support from Joep van Lieshout with respect to questions relating to being an artist. In addition, the foundation offers some advice in the area of fundraising. Furthermore, the international network of Atelier Van Lieshout and the Foundation are open to the residents providing them with access to collectors, museum directors and international curators.
At the end of the residency residents are requested to present their results. This can be done in an exhibition, but an artist-talk, performance, film screening etc. could also be a possibility.
Have a look at our current residents Gaëlle Choisne and Vincent Ceraudo.
